Welcome home for homeless children
The home operate as structure of daily welcome, where children follow specific education courses, according to their condition and cultural level, are reintegrated into departments existing on territory and are taken back into the family. Such a structure is coordinated by nuns of Congregation of Silesian Sisters of Sacred Hearts, which is activating in Moldova since October 2002.
Preconditions, methodology and purposes of such an intervention and that performed by Shelter house for homeless children are specified by program document «The smile of hope». Among the education activities the House is performing should be noticed two projects – laboratories for Moldavian boys and girls between 12 and 16 years old.
Project woodworking laboratory for Moldavian boys between 12 and 16 years old
The main purpose of this project is education of adolescent to manual work, helping him to rise the interest in professional life – and in such a way dissuading him from beg for mercy – so to learn to live in a worthy manner with work activity and revalue his own creativity and manual skill.
Working techniques are: 1) observation of wooden samples; 2) to know and to manipulate the material; 3) demonstration of material usage; 4) beginning of inlay; 5) creation on wood of various forms and colors.
Each boy should have the material necessary for performance of his work and should take care not only of material, but also of working method, exploiting all particularities without wasting anything. The materials for realization of this project are: knives, saws, chisels; wood of many dimensions; paints for wood; brushes of many dimensions; thinner for wood paints; cloth; journals with samples; hooks to hang the paintings; accessories.
Project paper working laboratory for Moldavian girls between 12 and 16 years old
The main purpose of this project is to educate the girl to delicate manual work, helping her to rise the interest in creativity and professional life – and in such a way dissuading her from beg for mercy – so to learn to live in a worthy manner with fruits of her own work activity.
Working techniques are: 1) clean-up the arms; 2) manipulation of glossy paper; 3) utilization of all cuttings for creation of decorations; 4) observation of samples on journals; 5) familiarization with all kinds of paper; 6) demonstration of material usage; 7) creation of greetings for different occasions (weddings, birthdays, Christmas, Easter etc.).
Each girl should have the material necessary for performance of her work and should take care not only of material, but also of working method, exploiting all particularities without wasting anything. The materials for realization of this project are: glossy paper (paper A4); colored paper (paper A4); punches and other instruments for tracing work (various forms); scissors; felt-tip pens, pastels, white feathers, glue, small pearls and other decorative material; journals with model’s reproduction.
