Welcome for the immigrants and fight against women trade
Consequently to the dramatic flow of girls from east European countries, trafficked with the aim of exploitation and the increasing multi-ethnicity of our guests (at the end of 2000 it was 56 nationalities!), our activity of welcome had to assume different forms and competences, adept oneself to the special character of various human problems. So, in this context the activity of Regina Pacis Fund, for some years, is focused on three specific aims:
better integration of immigrants (arrived underground and later legalized) on the Italian territory, by means of employment projects, search of first workplace, school education for under aged;
programs of protection and psycho-social integration of foreign girls, both adult and under aged, victims of trade for sexual exploitation;
cooperation activity, aimed at local development, with countries the girls victims of trade are coming from.
A particular importance is progressively gathering the action in favor of young women, who broke loose from prostitution and exploitation’s grip. To that end, the Fund had elaborated and is carrying out programs of very definite intervention, composed of qualified assistance and protection, psycho-social integration and eventual reintegration into the social group, the young women have origin of. Qualified workers and proper structures, managed directly by the Regina Pacis Fund, sustain and see to the implementation of these projects in Italy and in Moldova, Country the numerous victims of trade originate from.
With heart’s impulse and with force of force
These years rich of historical events, experiences and sacrifices, spent in day by day contact with more and more demanding human situations and quite often marked by conflicts, the Regina Pacis Fund was permanently meditating. Who is serving the immigrants is always confronted with the most difficult task to combine the solidarity with the Law – and we well know that not always the law can go into the man’s story and serve him. So, is evident the risk to go along the very delicate limit, which sometimes should be overstepped, if you want to write – not on the abstract academic concept or in detached discussion halls, but where the help is urgently required for the dramatic needs of so many poor people – some pages of solidarity, which no one law could understand and anticipate. At the same time it is required courage and intelligence in order to offer efficient analysis and proper considerations – mainly as regards different European laws – able to follow and interpret the incessant evolution of migration phenomenon. So, the welcome should become a useful instrument of analysis and comprehension of phenomenon, being in position to stimulate exhaustive meditations and also influence the political opinions. There is one and defined aim: the research of common welfare and real help to destitute.
