Who we are and what are we doing
The Regina Pacis Fund, having the head office in San Foca di Melendugno (Lecce) and branches in Republic of Moldova, is operating since 1997 in the area of welcome and integration of immigrants on the Italian territory (by means of employment projects, search of dwelling, school education for minors, etc.) and is carrying out programs of social protection for girls victims of trade, aimed to sexual exploitation, along with cooperation activities for development countries, the trade victims girls coming from.
Emerged to face the numerous emergencies of immigration, in operative collaboration, which since the beginning had joined on the field the Christian community of Lecce and the public institutions, Regina Pacis Fund is under the authority and direct responsibility of Diocese of Lecce. At the same time, it was constituted as privileged referent of security services, public bodies, social and sanitary services, Authorities and agencies, operating in the field of immigration.
 Being from January, 1 2005 a multipurpose center for immigration, the head-office of Regina Pacis Fund (San Foca di Melendugno) is operating as a structure to receive immigrants of diverse origin, both legal and illegal, offering them assistance and support, as regards the legislative regulations. Particularly, the Fund is carrying out programs of assistance, social protection for girls’ victims of trade, aimed to sexual exploitation, through appropriate projects in Italia and Moldavia for material and psychological assistance, first forms of employment and facilities for reintegration into a social group of origin for girls, who decided to return home. For this purpose, Regina Pacis Fund offers logistics, social services, medical assistance, psychological support, educational and entertaining services, fact that mentions it in Europe as a model of welcome and assistance, quality of service and human relations, order, security, protection of person. In order to perform its activity, the Fund has a group of duly trained operators and also has recourse to the service of Guidance council «La Famiglia» from Lecce (Dgr Apulia nr. 7361/1987), as well as to organized groups of volunteers.
